BCP is an award-winning, leading African conservation and climate finance company developing large-scale, high-impact REDD+ projects across Zambia and Mozambique, covering more than 6.7 million hectares of biodiverse landscapes. Our work focuses on forest protection, biodiversity conservation, and community empowerment. BCP’s portfolio includes the Lower Zambezi, Luangwa Community Forests, Greater Limpopo, and Kafue-Zambezi REDD+ Projects, with a fifth project in early development in Angola’s Upper Okavango. Through partnerships with governments, communities, and the private sector, BCP delivers verified emissions reductions, supports rural livelihoods, and contributes to 16 of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Our two flagship projects—the Lower Zambezi REDD+ Project (LZRP) and the Luangwa Community Forests Project (LCFP)—are among the few globally to be triple Gold certified under the Climate, Community & Biodiversity (CCB) Standards, a mark of excellence in climate, community, and biodiversity impact.
The Lower Zambezi REDD+ Project was our initial pilot project. Since its inception, we have achieved unique milestones for both Zambia and Africa by becoming the first Verified Carbon Standard verified project in the country and then achieving 11 consecutive verifications.
LZRP was also the first REDD+ project in Africa to earn gold-level validation against all 3 categories for the Climate, Community, and Biodiversity Standard for our exceptional community level and environmental impacts. We are most proud of our community impacts, that wildlife numbers are increasing in the Lower Zambezi REDD+ Project, and of our hard-working and committed team.
BCP has been consistently recognized for its impact and innovation, including:
We are proud to hold the second-highest B Corporation score in Africa, and to have been named the Energy Globe Award Winner for Zambia in 2022/2023. In 2024, BCP joined the International Emissions Trading Association (IETA) and remains one of the few organizations in Africa accredited by the International Carbon Reduction and Offset Alliance (ICROA).
Both LZRP and LCFP are featured under the World Business Council for Sustainable Development’s Natural Climate Solutions Alliance, and our projects contribute to 16 of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a reflection of our deep commitment to people, planet, and progress.
